Leftover Love

from Our Country by Dawson James

/

about

With the release of his 5th studio album, Dawson James goes down home. Reaching deep into
his childhood roots singing Country Music. Dawson grew up in log cabin in the mountains outside of
Sedalia, Colorado. When he was a small child he used to perform a duet with his father who is a talented
country music songwriter. This 2012 album is a songwriting collaboration between Dawson James and his
father Rod DeVries. It hits home with both younger and older Country Music fans and also reaches the
Blues and Rockabilly crowds.

The New album “Our Country” produced in Nashville, TN by family friend Bobby Terry, is the
biggest production of Dawsonʼs career. Bobby Terry and Rod DeVries have history working together in the
mid 90ʼs. Bobby produced the #2 Billboard hit “Local Call” written by Rod DeVries in 1995, Dawson was
10 years old.

When asked about the new album title, Dawson James smiled and said “The album title, Our
Country, represents the hills where I was raised, the style of Country that I play, and the good oleʼ
American way.” The initial tracking of “Our Country” took place on music row at The Tracking Room in
Nashville, TN. The live band session consisted of Shawn Fichter on Drums & Percussion, Jimmy Carter
on Bass Guitar, Buddy Hyatt on Piano, Organ, and Rhodes, Scotty Sanders on Steel Guitar, Dobro, and
Lap Steel, Larry Franklin on Fiddle, Kelly Back on Electric Guitar, Bobby Terry on Steel String and Nylon
String Acoustic, and Dawson James on vocals. Dawson’s final vocal cuts were made a few days later at
Bobby’s studio in Nashville, Dawson also cut the guitar solo on Track 3 “Workin’ My Life Away”. Bobby
added the intro and outro, lead guitar overdubs, Back Up Vocals, and piano overdubs at his studio. After,
Russell Terrell recorded the bulk of the Back Up Vocals at his private studio. The album was then
produced and mixed by Bobby Terry and mastered by Master Mix in Nashville, TN. When asked about his
recording experience in Nashville, Dawson James replied “Glory be to God, working with Bobby has been
one of the biggest blessings in my life, I am still learning so much from him as a musician and producer, I
feel so thankful and honored for the opportunity to record with so many talented musicians .” Our Country
is an authentic American album for authentic American people, pick it up today!
